Dillingham, AK – October 21, 2014 – Just as temperatures start to drop and snow starts to fly, Vitus Terminals officially made its first delivery of home heating fuel in Dillingham, Alaska.   Vitus operates three delivery trucks to deliver fuel oil, diesel, and gasoline to residential and commercial customers.

Vitus leases tank space in Dillingham under a long term agreement with Nushagak Electric & Telephone Cooperative (NETC).  Prior to opening, a truck loading rack was constructed at the NETC facility and commissioned just as Vitus’s supply barge AVEC-208 made its final fall delivery.  The agreement provides a direct benefit to NETC and its members by renting surplus fuel storage space to Vitus.

In addition to bulk storage, Vitus has acquired a local convenience store and now provides fuel and friendly service on the Aleknagik Lake Road.  Formerly known as “Teddy’s”, the new Vitus location is the company’s second retail station, opened less than a year after the first station opened in Kotzebue, AK.  Company CEO Mark Smith stated “Vitus is committed to bringing the best possible service and value to the communities we serve.  In this location, it is a bonus to be serving the community where my grandparents homesteaded in 1930.”

Vitus’s approach to fuel marketing is to keep overhead costs low and pass the savings on to consumers.  Within 24 hours of Vitus’s entry into Dillingham, retail gasoline prices dropped $.35/gallon.  Using an innovative, internet-based sales platform, the company intends to compete with excellent service and attractive pricing.  Customers can access fuel prices and order fuel at www.dillinghamfuel.com .  Internet orders are typically delivered within 24 hours during the work week, and ‘keep full’ customers will be monitored every two weeks to ensure tanks will never run low.
