Smith spoke on the panel Current Capabilities and Future Needs and said “There are many challenges operating in remote Alaska, and the lack of current hydrographic data is one of them. Having NOAA and industry together to make improvements benefits all the people in the region because it increases the level of safety and lowers the cost to provide service to the Arctic”.
