Dillingham, AK  –  August 31, 2015  –  Vitus Marine was hired by the insurance underwriters of a sunken tug and barge carrying wrecked cars.  After securing permissions from federal and state government agencies, Vitus Marine began the recovery efforts.   The process including permitting, preparation, recovery, and transit back to a port in Dillingham took two weeks.  Vitus CEO Mark Smith said “By using the crew of our regional tug JACKIE M and the support of our Dillingham terminal manager Paul McDowell we had extensive local knowledge of the wreck site and the tactics to successfully retrieve the vessels and cargo”.
